The Fall Season is upon us and my new professional name is DN Bashir. I’ve been in a period of transformation over the past year and it just feels right. You may see another name for a minute… the transition continues.

My first project to share with you is a short play, Journeys, commissioned by HistorySpeaks in Dutchess County. It will be presented in Poughkeepsie, at the FDR Presidential Library on 9/16/24 at 12:30pm.

However, if you can’t come, and you are wanting some way to support - you’re in luck! Here’s what happened : At the end of August, there were some exciting changes that required us to “upgrade” our production value. Firstly, the FDR Presidential Library found out about the project and has graciously agreed to host our presentation for free. Then, Michael Halbert, a national re-enactor of Major General Lafayette (as well as multiple other historical figures) wanted to join our production. Michael is performing in many of the northeast’s portion of the national commemorative tour of Lafayette’s return to the US.

In response, we have hired two additional professional actors to
tell the story of Thomas and Jane Williams who named their 1st child, Lafayette
Williams after General Lafayette. That Lafayette went on to give his life
serving in the US Colored Troops in the Civil War. We plan to have our Thomas
and Jane perform in full regency period costumes in keeping with Michael
Halbert’s historical attire.

So far, we raised a significant amount to cover our new expenses
from various sources. HistorySpeaks has also contributed additional resources
towards these new upgrades as well, however we are still in need of $2,000 to
cover the gap. Your generous support would help us perform a cultural service
by bringing these untold stories to the Dutchess County community.
