Daaimah Mubashshir is a NYC playwright by way of Chicago, IL and Houston, TX. Her work has been developed by AmericanAF Festival, Sanctuary/HERE ARTS, NYMadness, The Bushwick Starr, Going to The River Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Fire This Time FestivalJACK, and Rising Circle Theatre Collective.  Full Length plays are Night of Power (Columbia University), Rum for Sale (Signature Theatre-Ford Studio), There is Something About a Clock Face ( The Kilroys, JACK, & Fire This Time Festival) and Not In This Room (Fire This Time Festival, Magic Time @ Judson Church) . Daaimah also enjoys pushing the boundaries of theatre - In Everyday Afroplay (The Bushwick Starr, JACK, ) she creates text for theatrical experiences which blur the lines between the visual art, poetry, and theatre.

Daaimah is a member of the Writer/Director Lab at Soho Rep., Clubbed Thumb Early Career Writers Group and New Georges.  Awards include a MacDowell Colony Fellowship, a Hillsdale/Brook Memorial Residency, and a Foundation of Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant. MFA: Columbia University.
